Cleaning Day!

It was finally time to clean Hercules' cage out completely. I do a spot of clean of his dirty areas every day but he was getting a bit stinky and very messy, so it was time for a complete clean out. Hercules was very confused!

At first, he decided he was going to help! Then he started getting in the way,  so it was time to put him in his travel case for the rest of the clean. He was ok for a while, and then he started getting restless!

Soon enough though, the cage was lovely and clean and it was time for Hercules to go home.

He was very interested in the new house I'd bought him, although it took him a while to work out where the door was!

"But going ON the house it just so much more fun!"

Oi! You!

Stop taking my picture!

I keep taking photos of Hercules, but he is quite the little wiggle bum and it's hard to get a decent shot in focus! I am using the "Pet" setting on my camera, but I guess practice makes perfect, so keep watching this space to see me get better at photographing my little one!

Does anyone have any tips on taking hamster photos?

The Story of the Wheel

I had to buy Hercules a new wheel the other day. He did have a wooden wheel but he was peeing in it and it was hard to clean. I thought I'd get him a nice new silent spinner instead.

First off, this thing is huge! It's the 12 inch spinner and I had a bit of a panic when I put it in the cage and it didn't fit! Then I took it off the stand and attached it to the bars and it fit perfectly. I love the colour, the purple looks really great in his cage, and true to it's name, it is very quiet. No hamster wheel will ever be silent, but it is a very quiet wheel. Hercules can also run on it with a perfectly straight back, which is vital.

It took Hercules a while to get into it, he did need a bit of coaxing, but once he got into it and gave it a test drive he was off! Now his nice new wheel is his very favourite toy and he quite happily spends hours in the thing!

"Why are you taking my picture? It's time to RUN!"
